Michał Sławecki – an organist, composer, conductor, gregorianist. He was born in Puławy. He graduated from the Salesian Secondary Music School in Lutomiersk, organ class of Katarzyna Sekura. In the period of 2001–2006 he studied Church Music at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw (organ – Magdalena Czajka, conducting – Sławek A. Wróblewski), and in the period of 2003–2008 he studied Composition in class of Professor Stanisław Moryto, obtaining diplomas with honours. In the academic year of 2006–2007 he studied at Conservatorio di Musica A. Casella in L’Aquila, Italy (composition – Alessandro Sbordoni, organ and Gregorian singing – Giandomenico Piermarini) and he completed an internship at Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra in Rome (Gregorian singing – Alberto Turco, Daniel Saulnier).

He participated in courses of Gregorian singing, which were run by its masters, such as Nino Albarosa (Cremona), Johannes B. Göschl (München), Kees Pouderoijen (Vienna), Franz Karl Praßl (Graz), Federico Bardazzi (Firenze), Giovanni Conti (Lugano), Heinrich Rumphorst (Berlin). He is a member of the Italian and Polish section of Associazione Internazionale Studi di Canto Gregoriano and the Association of Polish Church Musicians. He is very active in the field of promoting Gregorian singing through courses, concerts and ceremonial liturgies in Poland and abroad.

He gives concerts as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist. He participates in the first performances of works by contemporary Polish composers, some of them have been recorded on CDs. He is a laureate of prizes and honorary mentions at composition competitions. Since 2004 he Has held the function of organist and cantor at the St. Anne Academic Church  situated at the Royal Route in Warsaw. He is the Second Conductor of the Choir of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw. He is a founder, Artistic Director and conductor  of the ensemble called Mulierum Schola Gregoriana Clamaverunt Iusti, with which he won the 59^th International Competition “Polifonico Guido d’Arezzo” in 2011 (1^st Prize in the category Canto Monodico Cristiano – Concorso and  1^st Prize ex aequo in the category Canto Monodico Cristiano – Rassegna a premi).

He works as Assistant Professor (Major: Church Music) at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. In 2012 he defended his DA thesis at the FCUM entitled The Roman and Franconian topos. The performance aspect based on the selected pieces.  At the moment he concentrates his research on the interpretation of the Western liturgical monody based on the oldest adiastematic sources  in the spirit of Dom Eugène Carine (Gregorian semiology, semio-modality, semio-aesthetics, Bewegungstendenz).
