Artur Stefanowicz

Artur Stefanowicz graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Department of Vocal Studies (1991), where he studied under Professor Jerzy Artysz. He continued his singing education with Paul Esswood and Professor Jadwiga Rappé.

He won the 1^st award named after Venanzio Rauzzini at the International Mozart Vocal Competition in Vienna (1990) and the 2^nd award at the International Vocal Competition in ’s‑Hertogenbosch (1991).

Since 1991 he has performed with many famous orchestras and ensembles, e.g.: Berliner Symphoniker, Clemencic Consort, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Combattimento Consort Amsterdam, Il Fondamento, Collegium Instrumentale Brugense, Les Arts Florissants, Akademie für Alte Musik, Concerto Italiano, he has worked with such conductors as: Karol Teutsch, Leopold Hager, Philippe Entremont, Zdenek Kosler, Paul Dombrecht, Patrick Peire, William Christie, Sir Charles Mackerras, Harry Bicket, Peter Eötvös, Gennadi Rozhdestvensky, René Jacobs, Philip Pickett, Rinaldo Allessandrini, or Andrey Boreyko.

He has performed at such venues as (among others): Opera Comique in Paris, De Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam, English National Opera in London, New York City Opera, Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, Glyndebourne Opera Festival, Théâtre des Champs Elysés, Théâtredu Châtelet, Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao, festivals: in Aix-en-Provence, London, Zurich, Palermo, Montreux Vevey, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Royal Festival Hall, philharmonics: in Warsaw, Berlin, Munich, Tokyo, and Taipei.

Artur Stefanowicz has made numerous recordings, e.g. for: Polskie Nagrania, BMG, Erato, Koch Classics, or Hungaroton.

Since 2005 he has cooperated with his parent university. He started this collaboration at the Department of Vocal Studies as Assistant in the class of Professor Jadwiga Rappé. In 2008 he obtained a doctoral degree and took up the post of Assistant Professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of  Music, teaching his own vocal class.

In 2013 Artur Stefanowicz obtained a post-doctoral degree.
