Dariusz Zimnicki

He is a graduate of the Vilnius Conservatory (1997) and the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, specialty: Choir Conducting (2002, class of Professor Ryszard Zimak). He obtained a doctoral title in music arts in 2009.

In the period of 2002–2004 he was connected (as a conductor) with the Warsaw Chamber Opera. Currently he works at his parent university as Assistant Professor at the Chair of Choir Conducting and as a conductor of the FCUM Mixed Choir and the Department’s vocal ensemble.

Since 2004 he has conducted the Academic Choir of the Warsaw Technical University and the Warsaw Metropolitan Church Choir. He gives a lot of concerts with both ensembles, preparing very diverse a capella programmes, as well as vocal-and-instrumental pieces. He can be distinguished by numerous initiatives in performing forgotten and newly discovered choir works. He successfully performs at festivals and competitions in Poland and abroad (over 20 awards). He is a co-founder (2011) and conductor of the Tibi Dommine choir at the Saintest Saviour parish in Warsaw.

He won the scholarship of the Minister of Culture for outstanding education results. He was a laureate of the 3rd award and individual award for his work on the interpretation of Karol Szymanowski’s piece at the All-Poland competition for choir conductors in Poznań in 2002.

He is a regional coordinator of the all-Poland programme of development of school choirs called The Singing Poland. He is active as an organizer and co-organizer of competitions, festivals and choir reviews.

He also is a juror, lecturer and expert in undertakings on regional, national and international levels.
