Krzysztof Marosek

Krzysztof Marosek began to learn organ playing in the class of mgr Marietta Kruzel at the Karol Szymanowski Secondary Music School in Warsaw. In 1983 he obtained a diploma of completion of the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, organ class of Professor Józef Serafin. In 1986 he studied at the Summer Academy for Organists in Haarlem (Holland) under Daniel Roth, Piet Kee and Martin Haselböck.

He has participated in numerous organ competitions and festivals in Poland and abroad, e.g. in w Olsztyn — All-Poland Auditions for Secondary School (2^nd place), in Gdańsk – All-Poland Organ Competition (honorary mention), Leipzig, Budapest, Prague, Deventer, St. Albans. At the same time he has performer at the most important national festivals such as in Kamień Pomorsk, Leżajsk, Słupsk, Szczecin, Koszalin, Łódź, Toruń, Włocławek, Legnica, Katowice, Kazimierz Dolny and abroad – in Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, of England.

From 1982 for many years he co-created a chamber ensemble for two violins and basso continuo together with instrumentalists from the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. The quartet performed at many festivals in Poland and abroad.

In 1983 he started a permanent cooperation with the Warsaw Chamber Opera. He has participated in concerts in Poland and abroad, e.g. in Germany, Austria, France, Lebanon, Russia, or Italy.He has played solo, chamber and oratorio concerts and performed organ parts in basso continuo in baroque operas, passions, oratorios and cantatas, accompanying soloists, choirs and orchestras e.g. as part of the Mozart Festivals taking place for many years in Warsaw, Festival of Old Polish Music in Warsaw’s Historical Buildings called Ad hymnos ad cantus (numerous premiere performances), Baroque Operas Festival, or the Claude Monteverdi Festival. In 1988, together with the Warsaw Chamber Opera Esemble, he took part in the premiere performance of Giovanni Paisiello’s Passion at the International MIDEM Festival in Cannes, which was combined with the promotion of the recording of that work.

He has also performed at the International Festival of Contemporary Music ‘The Warsaw Autumn’ (M. Kagel, Z. Penherski), and for a few years now he has participated in the first performances of chamber operas of the 20^th and 21^st centuries (B. Britten, V. Ullmann, J. Koffler, E. Pałłasz).

At the same time he has played with many philharmonic orchestras, e.g. the National Philharmonic, Silesian Philharmonic, Łódź Philharmonic, or Kalisz Philharmonic, under the baton of such famous conductors as Antoni Wit, Kazimierz Kord, or Tadeusz Strugała.

He twice performed at the Chopin Festival in Duszniki – in 2010, the Jubilee Chopin Year during an anniversary Mass for the soul of Fryderyk Chopin at the Peter and Paul the St. Apostols’ Church and in 2013 in the solo and chamber part together with maestro Krzysztof Jakowicz.

In December 2013 at the Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw, he participated in the premiere parformance of the new stagings of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and Béla Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle directed by Mariusz Treliński and conducted by Valery Gergiev.

He has given concerts in Poland and abroad with an ensemble of early instruments called Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense conducted by Władysław Kłosiewicz.

He has also made solo, chamber, orchestra and choir recordings. In the recent years he has played concerts with one of the most outstanding Polish violinists Krzysztof Jakowicz.

Since 2012 he has been a member of the Warsaw Music Society.

Since 1984 he has taught at Warsaw’s music academy, and in September 2014 he obtained a post-doctoral degree at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, where he has currently worked as Assistant Professor.
