Beata Szebesczyk

chamber music

Beata Szebesczyk is a pianist and chamber musician. She is a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, piano class of Professor Jerzy Romaniuk and piano chamber music class of Professor Maja Nosowska.

She developed her piano and chamber music skills during masterclasses in Vienna with Professor Elly Ameling, in Duszniki with Professor Ryszard Bakst in Weimar with Professor Bernard Ringeissen, in Warsaw with Professor Edith Picht-Axenfeld, and in Bayreuth. Due to her preference she works primarily with singers. Her protégés won major awards at national and international competitions (e.g.: International S. Moniuszko Competition., Adam Didur Competition in Bytom, Vocal Competition in Duszniki-Zdrój, International Mozart Competition in Prague, or Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award 2011 in Switzerland).

She has won many special awards for pianists at vocal competitions:

• 1996 — Vocal Competition in Duszniki-Zdrój
• 2000 — Vocal Competition in Duszniki-Zdrój
• 2001 — Polish Artistic Song Competition in Warsaw
• 2002 — Vocal Competition in Duszniki-Zdrój
• 2007 – Ada Sari Vocal Art Competition in Nowy Sącz

She has performed at the International Chopin Festivals in Mariánské Lázně, in Duszniki-Zdrój, Bedrich Smetana Festival in Nové Město, Drei Klang Festival in Dresden, Friendship Art Festival in Korea, Merseyside Polonia Jubilee at the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool, and in many cities in Poland and abroad.

She has recorded for the radio and television. The album “Songs” by Stanisław Moryto, which was recorded by Żaneta Łukaszewicz, was nominated for the “Fryderyk” award in 2008.

As a pianist she worked at the Great Theatre –  National Opera as part of the training programme for young talents. She collaborates with many outstanding singers and instrumentalists.

She defended her doctoral thesis entitled “Inspiration by Polish folk music in pieces by contemporary composers on the basis of Green Songs by Tadeusz Szeligowski Folk Songs by Edward Pałłasz and Seven Kurpie Songs by Stanisław Moryto” in 2011.

She conducted a masterclass at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität in Linz and at the Conservatorio Alfredo Casella in L’Aquila. She co-organized the 1^st All-Poland Competition for Duos with Piano in February 2012. She organized a scholarly conference entitled “The influence of psychological sciences, mental training and physiological knowledge on the individual development of musicians and their work in chamber ensembles” in December 2013.

Beata Szebesczyk, DMus, is Assistant Professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, as well as a lecturer at the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Song’s Interpretation Course at her Alma Mater.
