Monika Quinn was born in Montreal, Canada, into a family of musicians but has lived in Poland since early childhood. She started her musical education at the age of six, She graduated from the Zenon Brzewski National Musical High School in Warsaw in the class of prof. Teresa Manasterska. In 2007 she graduated with First Class Honours from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, where she studied piano with prof. Anna Jastrzębska-Quinn and prof. Kazimierz Gierżod as well as piano chamber with prof. Maja Nosowska.
Monika Quinn has won prizes in several piano competitions, including first prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Narva, Estonia (1999), second prize at the EPTA National Piano Competition in Cracow, Poland (2000), first prize and a special award for Spanish music interpretation at the 10th International Piano Competition in Carlet, Spain (2001), first prize (Primo Premio Assoluto) at the 13th International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Rome (2002), the Grand Prix at the Chopin Festival in Konin, Poland (2005) as well as qualifying to quarterfinals of the XV International Chopin Competition. In 2010 she received third prize at the International Piano Competition “Chopin in Memoriam” in Varna, Bulgaria.
Monika Quinn has participated in the Socrates-Erasmus Programme, which enabled her to study for one year with prof. Anna Pfeiffer at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. She has also been awarded a Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage scholarship.
The young pianist has given concerts in major concert halls across Poland and abroad (China, France, Spain, Austria, Italy, Estonia, Bulgaria).
Since 2007 Monika Quinn is engaged in teaching. She is an assistant professor at the piano department at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. In September 2018, she obtained a PhD in music at her home university. Monika also teaches piano at a music high school in Warsaw.
