Szymon KOWALCZYK (piano) was born in Warsaw. Having graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Music School, where he studied with Maria Niemira, he continued his education at the Music Academy in Warsaw in 1982-87, under the guidance of Regina Smendzianka (piano) and Maciej Paderewski (chamber musie).

He is a prizewinner of the International Plano competition in Usti nad Labem in the Czech Republic (Third Prize in 1977 and Fourth Prize in 1979). He held grants from the Fryderyk Chopin Society in Warsaw (1983-1985) and the Minister of Culture and Art (1990).
He has performed at the Philharmonic Hall in Lublin and at the Polish Piano Festival in Słupsk. In May 1997 he took part (as Chopin - the pianist) in the production of Giacomo Orefice's opera Chopin at the Grand Theatre In Warsaw. He has recorded works by Brahms, Rachmaninov end S.H. Nawrocki for Polish Radio and Polish Television. Foreign tours have taken him to the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy.
He is also a member of faculty of the Chopin University of Music. As a repetiteus at its Vocal Department since 1992, he has worked closely with such prominent singers as Ewa Iżykowska, Jolanta Janucik, Urszula Trawińska-Moroz, Jerzy Artysz, Mikołaj Moroz, Leonard Andrzej Mróz, Maciej Witkiewicz and Włodzimierz Zalewski. Since 2001 he has taken part as a repetiteur in the annual summer courses organized by Barbara Halska in Nowy Sącz. He is also in charge of a piano class at the Karol Szymanowski Music School in Warsaw.
Szymon Kowalczyk worked as a presenter at Radio Classic (April 1998 - April 1999). In 2001 he completed a course for TV presenters organized by the Television Academy of Polish public television TVP. In 2009 he collaborated with the Syrena Theatre in Warsaw on the production of "The Accompanist" with Hanna Śleszyńska and Jan Jankowski in the leads.
