The theme of Wojciech Błażejczyk’s original album – a composer, sound engineer, and guitarist – is the string. Music is intertwined here not only with mathematics and physics, but also with science and philosophy. ‘Wojciech Błażejczyk, like Pythagoras, examines how strings behave: he shortens them, prepares them with the use of various objects, makes them vibrate, experimenting with unconventional methods of sound extraction, he puts a contact microphone as close as possible, which, like an acoustic microscope, allows you to hear all the nuances of the sound of a stimulated string. However, driven by the curiosity of a discoverer of unusual sounds, he does not stop there; acoustic investigations on the sound and the behaviour of a vibrating string are an occasion to philosophise on the world’ (Monika Pasiecznik).
Nine pieces become a kind of laboratory of sound experiments with string instruments, both classic and unusual (zithers, valiha, guzheng, balalaika), as well as with Harry Partch’s instruments. The composer, who is also present on the album as a performer and a sound engineer, invited outstanding ensembles to co-operate: Ensemble MusikFabrik, Hashtag Ensemble, Kwadrofonik and In:te:gro. Igor Szymański, Klementyna Mieczkowska, and Marek Suberlak were also involved in sound production.
