ZAPRASZAMY!
HENRYK MIŚKIEWICZ
„Come back…”
I composed and arranged the music recorded on the album Come back... between 1975 and 1985. This was the period of my youth; at that time, I was writing my fi rst pieces for the ‘Studio S-1’ Polish Radio and Television Orchestra conducted by Andrzej Trzaskowski. While playing in the Orchestra I had the pleasure and honour of co-operating with such artists as Janusz Muniak, Henryk Majewski, Zbigniew Jaremko, Włodzimierz Nahorny, or Jan Ptaszyn
Wróblewski. It was a great lesson for me – both as an instrumentalist and a fl edgling arranger. I owe a lot to Director Andrzej Trzaskowski, who off ered me to compose pieces for the Orchestra, hence giving me the opportunity to confront what I wrote with what heard during the fi rst performance. The outcome was always surprising...
We recorded songs, pop music, but also jazz pieces (the ones that could be ‘smuggled’ into the programme of Polish
Radio and Television). I remember that time very fondly.
During a guest concert at the Chopin University of Music, together with the Chopin University Big Band conducted by Piotr Kostrzewa, we recreated one of my works. It was also then that the decision was made to re-record my compositions from my period of working in the S1 Studio – this time with young passionate musicians from the Chopin University of Music.
The idea was implemented thanks to the major commitment of many people and institutions.
I would like to express my special thanks to the authorities of the Chopin University of Music, Piotr Kostrzewa, the musicians, sound engineers Leszek Kamiński and Michał Bereza, the Polish Radio Music Agency, in particular Bogna Kowalska, all sponsors, and, last but not least, my wife Grażyna. It is, among others, thanks to them that this album has been created.
I dedicate Come back... to the memory of Andrzej Trzaskowski, who gave me his trust many years ago and took me under his wing.
