  • Student brass orchestra

Student brass orchestra was founded in 2014, its founder and first conductor was trumpet class student Cezary Witkowski. The orchestra was born out of the passion for music making displayed by students, so it was easy to gather a group of enthusiasts. Thanks to the support of the dean of the faculty, Prof. Bożenna Sawicka, PhD, rehearsals began as early as November 2014.

The orchestra performed its first performances on December 6 and 7 on the occasion of Caritas Poland's "Santa Claus" concert. The orchestra's performance received a lot of attention, but also appreciation from the University community. In January 2015, the orchestra played its first full-length concert at which it presented a rich repertoire, from classical music to pop and dance music. The concert was no small surprise, the artistic level, as well as the interesting narration led by Małgorzata Piotrowska and Adam Bańkowski (between the pieces presented by the orchestra, a lecture on the history of brass bands was woven in) caused enthusiasm among the audience. This resulted in the concert being repeated twice at Gen. J. Bem Elementary School No. 34 in Białystok. "Spring Meditations" was the title of the next presentation which took place in April 2015. The orchestra presented a lighter, more entertaining repertoire, including hits by the band Skaldowie.

In the 2015/2016 academic year, the Orchestra honored with its playing the celebrations inside the University, including the opening of the new teaching building. The next academic year brought huge changes, the Orchestra gained a mentor and a new conductor in the person of senior lecturer Sylwester Sobola, PhD, and the activities of the Orchestra were "legalized" (brass band became a subject for which students receive credit). The Orchestra performed its first concert under the baton of the new conductor in January 2017. The script followed the tradition of New Year's and Carnival concerts. The event once again attracted great interest and was warmly received. Vocalists Wojtek Urbanowski and Jola Ostrowska performed along with the Orchestra. In the spring of 2017, the Student Brass Band presented itself several times, the first performance being "An Evening of Film Music" at the UMFC Concert Hall in Białystok. Subsequent performances included participation in the parade of students on the occasion of the start of the Białystok Juvenile Festival - the first time the Orchestra presented its capabilities in a march, and a performance on the occasion of the open days of the UMFC Faculty of Instrumental and Pedagogical Sciences in Białystok.

Today, the Orchestra has become an important link in the life of the University, and it is also an excellent form of student development, as well as a bond to integrate and strengthen ties.

  • Student Symphony Orchestra

The ensemble presents 4-5 symphonic programs per concert season, and often participates in opera projects.

Noteworthy is the orchestra's highly successful summer tour of Italy, which included an international cast production of Nabucco by G. Verdi. Excellent reviews were also received for the staging of W. A. Mozart's Don Giovanni presented in the 2006/2007 season and St. Moniuszko's Flis staged at the A. Wegierka Drama Theater in Białystok under the baton of Maja Metelska (2008/2009). In 2011, the ensemble took part in the production of W. A. Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro under the baton of Paul Kantschieder (Austria). In March 2015, the Student Symphony Orchestra played on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Instrumental and Pedagogical Faculty at the Concert Hall of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.

The orchestra works under the direction of outstanding conductors, including Jerzy Maksymiuk, Nikolai Dyadura, Jerzy Salwarowski, Lukasz Borowicz, Marcin Nałęcz-Nesiołowski, Maciej Sztor, Nikolai Makarevich (Belarus), Zbigniew Graca, Paweł Kos-Nowicki, and Stanisław Krawczynski. The ensemble regularly cooperates with the Faculty of Vocal and Acting at the UMFC. The result of this cooperation in the 2013/2014 artistic season was, among others, the realization of W. A. Mozart's opera Cosi fan tutte at the Grand Theater-National Opera in Warsaw and in Germany. The orchestra has made recordings for radio and television.

  • Sinfonia Academica

In 1998, "SINFONIA ACADEMICA" began its artistic activities. - a chamber orchestra of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Faculty of Instrumental and Pedagogical Sciences in Białystok, founded by Prof. Leszek Sokołowski.

Since 2003, the ensemble has been co-founded and led by Prof. Włodzimierz Promiński, PhD primer of the CAMERATA Quartet. The orchestra has performed with great success at many prestigious concerts in the country, including at the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw, at the end of the artistic season at the Białystok Philharmonic, the final concert of the XVIII ORGAN CONVERSATORIUM in Legnica, concerts at the UMFC in Warsaw and abroad (France). Throughout its many years of activity, the ensemble has collaborated with some of Poland's most distinguished conductors and soloists, including Jerzy Maksymiuk, Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Andrzej Mysiński, Katarzyna Duda, Mirosław Jacek Blaszczyk, Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski, Jan Miłosz Zarzycki, Elżbieta Pańko, and choirs: Cantica Cantamus, Schola Cantorum Bialostociensis, Polish Peace Choir, "AXION" Chamber Choir of the Wrocław University of Technology and lecturers of the Białystok faculty of the UMFC in Warsaw. • Big Band

The ensemble was founded in November 2006 on the initiative of the Dean of the Instrumental Faculty, Prof. Leszek Sokołowski. It is composed of students of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, Department of Instrumental and Pedagogical Faculty in Białystok.

The students' commitment to playing jazz together led to concert rehearsals soon after the start. The first of these took place within the walls of their alma mater. The Białystok audience received the band extremely warmly and enthusiastically. In the first months of its activity, the Big-Band performed at concerts organized for the listeners of the University of the Third Age in Białystok. The band's repertoire includes jazz standards and songs from the world repertoire of popular and pop music. The band, led by Tomasz Witek, MA, consists of saxophonists, trumpeters, trombonists and a rhythm section (piano, drums, guitar and bass guitar). In March 2007, the Big-Band with its performance musically framed the Grand Gala of the Podlasie Brand of the Year organized by the Marshal's Office, which took place on the stage of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic and was broadcast live on Program 3 of the Polish Television.
