The Chopin University of Music is a public art higher education institution and operates within the Polish science system and the national education system.
The University continues the tradition of educating talented young musicians at the Drama School at the National Theater, the High School of Music headed by Jozef Elsner, the Warsaw Music Institute, the National Conservatory of Music, the State Higher School of Music in Warsaw and the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music.
The University conducts teaching, artistic and scientific activities, and operates on the principles of freedom of artistic creativity, freedom of teaching and scientific research, in accordance with its mission. The University cultivates its traditions dating back to 1810.
