Conference Sounds of the Metaverse
The second edition of an international conference on sound and music in virtual environments.
The conference aims to integrate the international community of researchers and practitioners working with sound in virtual environments, including but not limited to computer game engines. The conference has a two-day format, consisting of lectures and presentations of works by people coming from different backgrounds and dealing with various aspects of working with sound in digital and virtual environments, as well as those studying virtual environments from the cultural studies side.
The conference will include a performance by the legendary Avatar Orchestra Metaverse, a group founded by artists from different countries in 2007, which pioneered the use of virtual space for musical performance activities, for which it uses the “Second Life” environment. The conference will feature the premiere of their new work “Entanglements in Cyberspace.”
During the conference there will be an opportunity to listen to immersive sound works awarded at the eighth edition of the Student 3D Audio Production Competition organized annually by the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics, a unit of the University of the Arts in Graz.
The opening lecture of the conference entitled. “Hearing diversity in the metaverse” will be presented by Stefania Serafin, Professor of Sonic Interaction Design and founder of the Multisensory Experience Lab at Aalborg University in Copenhagen.
The conference is organized by the Department of Music Acoustics and Multimedia of the Faculty of Sound Engineering at the UMFC. The initiator and chairman of the organizing committee is dr Przemysław Danowski. The language of the conference is English.

The conference will be held on November 23-24, 2024 at the Szymanowski Auditorium, 2 Okólnik Street, Warsaw.
- Passive participation includes participation in conference panels as a listener and access to digital conference materials.
- Participation in the conference is free of charge.
- All conference listeners are required to register via an online form, or on the day of the conference at the reception desk.
The number of listeners is limited to 100 due to the capacity of the lecture hall. The order of registration is decisive. The deadline for registration of passive participants through the online form is November 21, 2024 at: 23:59.

Regulation
Regulations of passive participation in the Conference "SOUNDS OF THE METAVERSE"
1. The organizer of the Conference "SOUNDS OF THE METAVERSE", hereinafter referred to as the Conference, is the Department of Music Acoustics and Multimedia, conducted by the Department of Sound Direction at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, hereinafter referred to as the Department. The conference is organized within the framework of the project entitled: "Chopin's Achievement of Science", hereinafter referred to as the "project", accepted for funding through a competition for the implementation of projects under the program called "Excellent Science II" announced by the announcement of the Minister of Education and Science dated January 31, 2023 on the establishment of the program and the call for proposals, pursuant to Article 376(1) and (2)(1) of the Act of July 20, 2018. - Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742, as amended).
2. The purpose of the Conference is to deepen scientific and research interests, exchange
sentences, experiences and points of view.3. The conference is aimed at all those interested in issues related to its topic, especially undergraduate and graduate students, doctoral students, as well as academic and research staff at universities.
4. The scientific supervisor of the Conference is Ad. Dr. Przemysław Danowski. The Organizing Committee is formed by Dr. Tomira Rogala and Dr. Przemysław Danowski.
5. The Conference will be held on November 23-24, 2024 at the Karol Szymanowski Auditorium and Cinema Hall, 2 Okólnik Street, Warsaw, according to the Conference schedule available at chopin.edu.pl.
6. Passive participation includes participation in conference panels as an audience member and access to digital conference materials.
7. Participation in the conference is free of charge.
8. All Conference listeners are required to register via an online form, or on the day of the Conference at the reception desk. The address of the registration form will be made available in the information about the Conference on the website chopin.edu.pl
9. The number of listeners is limited to 100 due to the capacity of the lecture hall. The order of registration is decisive.

11. The language of the Conference is English.12. Any questions about the Conference should be emailed to:
umfcvr@chopin.edu.pl13. Upon submission of the completed application form, participants:
a. consent to the taking of photographs and audiovisual recordings during the Conference, their recording, processing and reproduction and use in accordance with the letter b below, without having to approve them each time,
b. grant UMFC, free of charge, the right to repeatedly process and disseminate their image recorded on audiovisual recordings and photographs taken during the Conference, for use for the statutory purposes of UMFC, in particular for promotional and archival purposes, including but not limited to dissemination of performance for broadcasting, rebroadcasting and playback, as well as public access on selected websites, without time and territorial limitations.
c. undertake to comply with the provisions of these Regulations.
d. consent to the processing of personal data by the Conference Organizer in accordance with the Act of May 10, 2018 on the Protection of Personal Data (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1000) and the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) 2016/679 of April 27, 2016. on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and the repeal of Directive 95/46/EC (Official Journal of the EU.L No. 119, p. 1, as amended) necessary for participation in the Conference, and declare that they have been informed that:
a) the administrator of the data contained in the application form is the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music with its seat in Warsaw, 2 Okólnik St., 00-368 Warsaw, represented by the Rector of the University (hereinafter referred to as UMFC), 2 Okólnik St., 00-368 Warsaw, chopin.edu.pl
b) contact with the Data Protection Officer on matters relating to data processing at UMFC is made via e-mail address: iod@chopin.edu.pl,
c) personal data contained in the application form will be processed only for purposes related to the organization of the Conference and will not be shared with other entities,
d) the provision of data is voluntary, but refusal to provide such data is equivalent to inability to apply for participation in the Conference,
e) have the right to access and rectify, erase, restrict processing, the right to object to processing, the right to data portability, and, in the case of processing based on consent, to withdraw it at any time and without giving any reason, subject to the lawfulness of processing prior to the withdrawal of consent,
f) Exercising the rights referred to in subsection e is possible through the e-mail address info@chopin.edu.pl and/or iod@chopin.edu.pl, as well as by directing a written request or application to the address of UMFC's headquarters,
g) personal data will be kept for the period necessary to complete the Conference and related activities. In the case of consent to send messages about scientific and artistic events organized by the Department, personal data will be processed until the consent is withdrawn;
h) in the event that they consider that the processing is carried out in violation of the law, they have the right to lodge a complaint to the supervisory authority - the President of the Office for Personal Data Protection, based in Warsaw at 2 Stawki Street.
i) permission to disseminate the image may be withdrawn before the start of the Conference - for this purpose, direct information in this regard by email to: umfcvr@chopin.edu.pl or iod@chopin.edu.pl
14. Participants of the Conference are obliged to comply with the internal acts and instructions in force at the UMFC building regarding security and organizational issues, as well as to follow the recommendations issued in this regard by authorized persons from the UMFC side.
15. UMFC is not responsible for property brought to the UMFC premises by Conference participants, including property left by them.
16. UMFC shall not be liable for damages incurred in connection with participation in the Conference, subject to damages caused by the fault of UMFC.
17. The organizer reserves the right to make changes to the Regulations. Changes Regulations will be announced each time on the University's website Fryderyk Chopin Musical School: chopin.edu.pl
18. The Organizer reserves the right to cancel the Conference for important reasons, Participants shall not be entitled to any claims against UMFC for this reason.
